This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the  4th  International Conference on Mining Intelligence and Knowledge Exploration, MIKE 2016, held in Mexico City, Mexico, in November 2016. The 18 full papers  presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 56 submissions.
