Notă biografică

Geert Verbong is a Professor in the section of Technology Innovation & Society of the School of Innovation Sciences. He has a master degree in Applied Physics (1981). He specialized in the History of Technology and he wrote, based on extensive archival research, a Ph.D. thesis on innovations in textile printing and dyeing in the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies in the 19th century. He was senior researcher and co-editor of two book series on the History of Technology in  the Netherlands in  the 19th  and  20th  century. His contributions focused on the relation between science and technology, engineering education and the development of energy systems. More recently he focused on the introduction of renewable energy technologies and the future of energy systems. Recent publications include a book on the history of renewable energy in the Netherlands (2001) and the Dutch Energy Research Centre (2005)

Dr. Taufik was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he graduated a Valedictorian of his High School in Jakarta. He came to the US to study and received his BS in Electrical Engineering with minor in Computer Science from Northern Arizona University (Cum Laude), MS in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois Chicago, and Doctor of Engineerin g from Cleveland State University. He joined the Electrical Engineering department at Cal Poly State University in 1999 where he is currently a tenured Full Professor. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has done consulting work and  has been  employed by  several companies including Capstone Microturbine, Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), Picker International, San Diego Gas & Electric, APD Semiconductor, Diodes Inc., Partoe Inc., and Enerpro.

Idris first became interested in computing, technology and energy efficiency whilst studying economics and working as assistant programmer at ANU, culminating in a PhD. dissertation on technology and investment strategies of multinationals. A combined computing, economics and statistics background gives Idris an ideal grounding to approach energy efficiency from both a practical, policy and business case basis. Idris started work with a focus in ICT energy efficiency standards and policy at the energy efficiency branch of the Australian environment department in 2007, and has been involved in a broad range of projects since. His research interests include a number of  applied areas of Information Communications Technology (ICT)   including ICT energy efficiency (EE) and sustainability benchmarking, development of EE standards and regulation. He also writes on ICT for development topics particularly on the implementation of online/e-government, e-advocacy and ICT diffusion programs both in emerging and developed economies. He works as an advisor for a number of sustainability and ICT related organisations and is actively engaged with peak industry and professional bodies in Australia, Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Indira finished her Ph.D in School of Botany, The University of Melbourne in 2008.  She is interested in plant cell wall and her Ph.D research was about isolation of Rhamnogalacturonan II (RG II) from orange peel and immunolocation with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) of cell wall polysaccharides during development of oranges. She received Ethal McLennan Award from School of Botany in 2004 for her academic achievement and Melbourne Abroad Travelling Scholarship (MATS) from The University of Melbourne in 2005 to present her work in IFT Annual Meeting, New Orleans and University of Georgia, US.  She was involved in Bioenergy Project, a collaboration work between Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Technische Universiteit, Eindhoven, The Netherland (TU/e) from 2009-2011 to conduct researches in bioethanol from agricultural waste. Her passion of teaching and research topics includes postharvest technology and recently she presented her research in biopolymer in Sout heast Asia Symposium on Quality Management in Postharvest System, Laos, 2013. Her recent publication was on albedo cell wall and published in Journal of Carbohydrate Research, Elsevier,
2010.
