Discover the multilingual world of early modern Europe through the Writing Bilingually Catalogue (WBC), the first large-scale repertory of self-translated books produced in Italy and France from the advent of print to 1700. From travel accounts and funeral orations to major works of medicine, religion, and political thought, the WBC brings together more than 500 prose works in two or more authorial language versions. Complete with detailed bibliographical descriptions, biographical profiles, and cross-references to the accompanying Anthology, this richly documented resource transforms our understanding of multilingual authorship and provides an indispensable foundation for future research on self-translation and early modern book culture.
