He
writes
original
dark
fantasy

horror,
as
well
as
media
tie-ins.
His novels includeLike Death, considered a modern classic in the genre, and the popularNekropolisseries of urban fantasy novels. He's written tie-in fiction based onSupernatural, Grimm, The X-Files, Alien, Doctor Who, A Nightmare on Elm Street,andTransformers, among others, and he’s written novelizations for films such asKingsman: The Golden CircleandResident Evil: The Final Chapter.His articles on writing have appeared inWriter's Digest,TheWriter, Writer's Workshop of Horror, Horror 101,andWhere Nightmares Come From. He’s the author of the acclaimed horror-writing guideWriting in the Dark, which won the Bram Stoker Award in 2021. "Overall, this is an excellent read and one that many will enjoy from the horror and thriller and ask questions of those that die, how restful are they really? I highly recommend this book for its originality, characters and a plot that is unstoppable and not able to be put down. A real page turner. Excellent."
