Vampyre

John William Polidori wrote this short story as part of a horror story competition amongst friends. Though not as famous as Frankenstein, another work from that competition, the Vampyre is just as influential. In a short and evocative story, Polidori lays the grounds for the countless tomes of supernatural vampire literature that have appeared since.
