Recenzii
Once again, Anindya Kundu has pushed his readers to look beyond the boundaries of conventional knowledge in order to understand what it takes for education to play a role in advancing societal change. Rather than revisiting the usual topics covered in most books on leadership in education, he focuses on the stories and lessons that have made it possible for some education leaders to transform the institutions they have led to make it possible to counter inequity and injustice. Written in clear and accessible language, I am certain that Kundu's book will quickly be recognized as an invaluable resource for educational leaders who seek to make a difference in the schools they lead and the communities they serve.
Transforming Educational Leadership highlights the stories of leaders-from national and district education officials to renowned professors to teachers and parents-in an effort to highlight lessons, expand our perspectives, and inspire us to address inequalities in education. In these stories, Anindya Kundu masterfully integrates the personal and the political in a form both prosaic and poetic! The book does not just transform leadership; it ultimately transforms the reader!
In Transforming Educational Leadership, Dr. Kundu presents a precise rupturing of traditional approaches to educational leadership theory and practice. He specifically calls on educators, leaders, policymakers, and researchers to unthink educational leadership as a praxis done to people. Instead, he invites us to remember the democratic imperative of our work. In these perilous times, Kundu's unique sociological and storytelling approach offers both a fresh perspective and an urgent reminder for all of us to reclaim, defend, and reimagine the promise of public education.
