'Uplifting and inspiring' - Dame Sarah Storey
The exhilarating story of ultrarunner and campaigner Sophie Power's achievements and the transformative power of endurance
In 2018 a photograph of Sophie Power breastfeeding her three-month-old son during the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc went viral around the world. This powerful image not only changed Sophie's life but sparked global conversations about motherhood, endurance and the barriers women face in sport.
The Power Within delves into the key life lessons Sophie has learned through running: lessons on resilience, self-belief and female empowerment. Her journey is extraordinary: from coming second to last in running a mile at school to now competing for Great Britain, breaking Guinness World records in ultrarunning and taking on some of the toughest races on the planet- all while raising her children.
Sophie shares how she built resilience through life's toughest moments, learned to prioritise herself beyond motherhood and discovered how to push her mental and physical boundaries beyond what she ever thought possible.
Through deeply personal reflections and practical insights, Sophie reminds us all to find our own power - in sport, in life and within ourselves.

Recenzii
The Power Within isn't your run-of-the-treadmill running book. Gripping, informative and inspiring. it's one of the most riveting running autobiographies I've ever read. Sophie is a pioneer in women's running, not just crashing through barriers to her own participation in races, but making sure us slower runners aren't discouraged from entering events in the sport she so clearly loves.
Sophie is an incredible inspiration for all runners out there
An uplifting and inspiring read. Sophie's story of dedication to bettering herself whilst working to making the world a better place for those around her is truly incredible.
An uplifting read that highlights the incredible impact one individual can make. How Sophie has used her platform for the benefit of other women is nothing short of extraordinary ... The book is beautifully written - vivid and honest - providing a rare insight into endurance racing as Sophie takes us into the very heart of her remarkable, gruelling sporting challenges. It's one of the best running autobiographies I've ever read - engaging, moving and truly motivating. It also highlights, with clarity and courage, the inequality that still exist for women in sport today. Above all though, this is a hugely relatable, human story of a woman determined to make change happen - not just for herself, but for others.
I read this book and felt seen. Sophie writes with the kind of honesty that stops you in your tracks - about running, yes, but mostly about life, ambition and the quiet determination to keep showing up. As a working mother who came to parenthood later, and as a runner still finding the hunger to keep going despite age and expectation, I recognised so much of myself in these pages. This isn't just a book for runners or mothers - it's for anyone who's ever questioned their limits and carried on anyway. It's raw, real and full of heart. You finish it reminded that the toughest races aren't always the ones with a start line - they're the ones we quietly run every day.
