“ Daca ai fi o caracatita, care ar fi cel mai neplacut lucru care ti se poate intampla?- Sa te speli pe maini!’’ Si tot asa, cartea intreaga. Plina de glume, de ghicitori cu intorsaturi neasteptate. Unele sunt intrebari glumete ‘’traditionale’’, dar cele mai multe sunt invers decat s-ar putea cineva astepta.Uneori, intrebarea contine raspunsul doar prin simplul fapt ca acesta din urma este asemanator in pronuntie. Alteori, raspunsul glumet tine de cate o expresie des uzitata, careia i s-a uitat sensul dar care, transpusa in practica, determina o situatie mai mult decat hazlie. O corespondenta la aceste glume am putea gasi de pilda, la al nostru Pacala caruia, spunandu-i-se sa traga usa dupa el (sa o inchida, asta stim cu totii), o scoate din balamale si o poarta dupa el.Alteori, personajele principale sunt insecte, pasari, animale, care gandesc, spun si fac lucruri total neasteptate. Intr-un cuvant, o carte care iti permite sa navighezi din gluma in gluma, dintr-o ghicitoare intr-alta, pana cand, fara sa iti dai seama, nu numai ca vei invata mai multa engleza decat ai facut-o pana acum prin stradanii multe, dar in primul rand, vei realiza ca dintr-o persoana ‘serioasa’ ai devenit una simpatica, inteligenta si creativa. O carte minunata, oricum !

Roald Dahl (Author)
Roald Dahl was a spy, ace fighter pilot, chocolate historian and medical inventor. He was also the author of Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG and many more brilliant stories. He remains THE WORLD'S NUMBER ONE STORYTELLER.

Quentin Blake (Illustrator)
Quentin Blake has illustrated more than three hundred books and was Roald Dahl's favourite illustrator. In 1980 he won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal. In 1999 he became the first ever Children's Laureate and in 2013 he was knighted for services to illustration.
