Notă biografică
Karen Karp EdDis a mathematics educator who focuses on the intersection of mathematics education and special education. She was most recently a professor at Johns Hopkins University and before that a distinguished teaching professor of elementary mathematics education at the University of Louisville in Kentucky where she is professor emeritus. She is the author or co-author numerous book chapters, articles, and books, including the recent U.S. Department of Education Institute of Science's What Works Clearinghouse Practice Guide on Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics: Intervention in the Elementary Grades, and seven Corwin titles including Strengths-based Teaching and Learning in Mathematics: 5 Teaching Turnarounds for Grades K-6;The Math Pact: Achieving Instructional Coherence within and Across Grades for elementary, middle, and high school; and three of the Classroom-Ready Rich-Math Tasks books for grades K-1, 2-3, and 45. She is also a co-author on the Van de Walle Elementary and Middle School Mathematics: Teaching Developmentally, which has been translated into seven languages. Dr. Karp is a former member of the board of directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and a former president of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators. In 2020, she was selected for the NCTM Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Service to Mathematics Education. She also a current member of the U.S. National Commission on Mathematics Instruction. This summer she will be representing the United States as the Chair of Topic Study Group on Teaching Mathematics to Students with Special Needs at the International Congress on Mathematical Education in Australia. She holds teaching/administrative certifications in elementary education, secondary mathematics, K-12 special education, and K-12 educational administration.
Beth McCord Kobett, EdD, is a professor and Dean in the School of Education at Stevenson University, where leads faculty and works with preservice teachers and leads professional learning initiatives in mathematics education both regionally and nationally. Beth was also the lead consultant for the Elementary Mathematics Specialists and Teacher Leaders Project and has held various leadership positions in the field. She recently served on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is the former president of the Association for Maryland Mathematics Teacher Educators. She is a former classroom teacher, elementary mathematics specialist, and university supervisor. At the undergraduate level Beth teaches early childhood, elementary, and middle school mathematics methods courses, as well as courses and field work centering on creating equity in education. At the graduate level, she teaches courses on diagnostics and interventions for mathematics students. She has a particular interest in developing problem solving dispositions in students through problem-based teaching and asset-based instruction. Dr. Kobett is a recipient of the Mathematics Educator of the Year Award from the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) and the Johns Hopkins University Outstanding Alumni Award from the School of Education. Beth also received Stevenson University¿s Excellence in Teaching Award twice. She is author of nine Corwin Math titles. Her most recent publications include The Formative 5 In Action (Corwin/NCTM, 2024), Classroom-Ready Rich Math Tasks - K,1; 2-3; 4-5 (Corwin, 2021), and Strengths-Based Mathematics Teaching and Learning (Corwin, 2020).
Francis (Skip) Fennell, PhD, is emeritus as the L. Stanley Bowlsbey professor of education and Graduate and Professional Studies at McDaniel College in Maryland, where he also directed the Elementary Mathematics Specialists and Teacher Leaders Project. He is a former classroom teacher, elementary school principal, and supervisor of instruction. Additionally, he is past president of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), the Research Council for Mathematics Learning (RCML), and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Author of five Corwin Math titles among many others, his recent publications include The Formative 5 In Action (Corwin/NCTM, 2024), Classroom-Ready Rich Math Tasks - K,1; 2-3; 4-5 (Corwin, 2021), The Formative Five (2017). Skip has also recently published research manuscripts in 2021 and 2023 appearing in Investigations in Mathematics Learning related to mathematics specialists. He is a recipient of the Glenn Gilbert National Leadership Award from the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM), the Excellence in Leadership and Service in Mathematics Teacher Education Award from the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
Delise Andrews, MAT in the teaching of middle level mathematics, is the 3-5 Mathematics Coordinator for Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. During her career, she has worked in both rural and urban districts and has taught mathematics to students at every age from Kindergarten through the 8th grade, undergraduate mathematics methods and mathematics content courses for pre-service teachers, and graduate level courses for teachers of mathematics. Delise is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and a Robert Noyce Master Teaching Fellow. She is also an active member of NCTM, serving as a past member and chair of the Professional Development Services Committee, member of regional conference committees, chair of the St. Louis annual conference committee, NCTM Professional Services facilitator, and currently is the Associate Editor for the Mathematics Teacher and Learning and Teaching journal. She is a co-author of the Grades K-1 and Grades 4-5 books in the Classroom Ready Rich Math Tasks: Engaging Students in Doing Math series.
Latrenda Knighten, M.Ed., a Mathematics Curriculum Supervisor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is currently President-Elect for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Latrenda will begin her two-year term as President at the close of the NCTM Annual Meeting in September 2024. She has been an educator for more than 30 years during which she has been a classroom teacher, an elementary science specialist, an elementary mathematics coach, and a district instructional coach. Previously, Knighten was also an Educational Consultant for the Louisiana Resource Center for Educators and worked in assessment development for the Louisiana Department of Education. Knighten holds a bachelor's degree from Newcomb College of Tulane University and a Master of Education in Educational Technology Leadership from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Latrenda is the co-author of two books-both from Corwin: Classroom-Ready Rich Math Tasks, Grades K - 1 and Answers to Your Biggest Questions About Teaching Elementary Math, K-5. As a passionate advocate for high-quality mathematics instruction for all students, she is also an active member of many mathematics professional organizations where she has served in leadership roles. Latrenda is a past member of the Board of Directors for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, NCSM (Math Ed Leaders), and the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. She is also a member of the Mathical Book Prize Selection Committee.

Dr. Suh teaches mathematics methods courses in the Elementary Education Program and mathematics leadership courses for the Mathematics Specialist Masters and PhD Programs. Her research and outreach in schools focuses on using high-leverage mathematics teaching practices and asset-based instruction; infusing technology in mathematics classrooms for equity; and developing K-8 problem-based modeling tasks to promote equitable access to 21st century skills for diverse student populations in STEM disciplines. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors for NCTM and the Vice President of Professional Learning for AMTE spearheading the creation of position statements for equitable integration of technology. Currently she leads a project called EQSTEMM focused on culturally responsive mathematical modeling in elementary grades and works with teachers on EQT-Tech lesson study to integrate technology with equity at the forefront. Dr. Suh is a co-author of two Corwin booksFiguring Out Fluency: Addition and Subtraction with Fractions and Decimals(Corwin, 2022) andFiguring out Fluency: Multiplication and Division with Fractions and Decimals (Corwin, 2022).
