Motivated by a plethora of phenomena from nature, this textbook introduces into the physics of wetting of surfaces. After a brief discussion of the foundations of surface tension, its exploitation for floating objects on or in liquids is discussed. Furthermore, droplets and capillary effects are discussed and after a brief excursion into cavitation, the basics of dirt-repellent surfaces (lotus effect) are introduced.
