Carey McWilliams was editor of The Nation, 1951-1975, and author of Ambrose Bierce: A Biography; Factories in the Field: The Story of Migratory Labor in California; Ill Fares the Land: Migrants and Migratory Labor in the United States; Brothers Under the Skin: African-Americans and Other Minorities; and Prejudice: Japanese-Americans-Symbol of Racial Intolerance.Matt S. Meier was professor emeritus of history at the University of Santa Clara. His published work includes A Bibliography for Chicano History as well as the Greenwood titles Dictionary of Mexican American History; Bibliography of Mexican American History; and Notable Latino Americans.Alma M. García, PhD, is professor of sociology and director of the Latin American Studies program at Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA. She is the author of Narratives of Second Generation Mexican American Women: Emergent Identities of the Second Generation.
