Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) was a great 19th century Norwegian playwright who was considered one of the first prominent figures of modern theatre. Ibsen wrote many famous plays but none moreso than "A Doll's House," which was controversial in its time for its criticism of 19th century marriages and morals yet remains the world's most performed play today.

HENRIK IBSEN (1828 -1906) is the author of Little Eyolf, Ghosts, Hedda Gabler, A Doll's House Peer Gynt and The Master Builder among many others.

RICHARD EYRE is a director and writer. He has worked widely in theatre and opera, including in the West End, at the National Theatre and the Royal Opera House and on Broadway, and held the position of Artistic Director at the National Theatre from 1988-1997. His film work includes The Ploughman’s Lunch, Notes on a Scandal and the Oscar-winning Iris. He was knighted in 1997.
