Jérôme Schmidt is a writer, editor, and documentary filmmaker whose work has repeatedly taken him inside the worlds of professional poker and gambling. He co-wrote That’s Poker, a feature-length documentary produced for Arte and CBC, and spent years chronicling poker for Poker52 and Club Poker Radio.

Schmidt first traveled to Las Vegas in 2004 while making That’s Poker. He subsequently lived in the city for more than three years and has returned almost annually, spending two decades exploring its casinos, neighborhoods, communities, and surrounding desert.

Rhonda Mullins is a Montreal-based translator who has translated many books from French into English, including Jocelyne Saucier’s And Miles To Go Before I Sleep, Grégoire Courtois’ The Laws of the Skies, Dominique Fortier’s Paper Houses, and Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette’s Suzanne. She is a seven-time finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Translation, winning the award in 2015 for her translation of Jocelyne Saucier’s Twenty-One Cardinals. She is a mentor to emerging translators in the Banff International Literary Translation Program.
