How To Live With Each Other: An Anthropologist's Notes on Sharing a Divided World

Autor Farhan Samanani
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 10 ian 2025
Increasingly, we think and act as if the divides between us are unbridgeable: rather than reaching out and finding paths to reconciliation, we bunker down, create filter bubbles, build walls and gentrify neighbourhoods in a great rush to find our tribe and isolate ourselves within it. As crisis after crisis hits us, we find ourselves unable to agree even on what is happening around us, much less on how we should act. Here, anthropologist Farhan Samanani mixes case studies from across the world with his own research to provide insights into not just how we behave - but why. Using his anthropologist's toolkit, he explores how we got here, and casts fresh light on how we can cultivate common ground and not just live but flourish together.

Recenzii

Fascinating and important ... his scope and range of reference is extensive and worldwide
Extract: How can we live with those who are different from us? This is an old question and a tricky one. It may also be the most urgent problem of the twenty-first century ... this is a book about the past, the present and the future - about an old, familiar story that we continue to repeat, but also about how we might rewrite the script.
