Hatha Yoga

Autor Yogi Ramacharaka
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 7 ian 2020
Excerpts from the book: The whole theory and practice of Hatha Yogi is based upon this idea of return to nature—the belief that the Instinctive Mind of man contains that which will maintain health under normal conditions. And accordingly those who practice its teachings learn first to "let go," and then to live as closely to natural conditions as is possible in this age of artificiality. And this little book has been devoted to pointing out nature's ways and methods, in order that we may return to them. We have not taught a new doctrine, but have merely cried out to you to come with us to the good old way from which we have strayed.

Notă biografică

Yogi Ramacharaka was one of the principal pseudonyms of William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932), an American writer, lawyer, publisher, and major figure in the New Thought and early twentieth-century metaphysical movements. Under the Ramacharaka name, Atkinson wrote widely on yoga, mental science, occult philosophy, spiritual development, breath, concentration, and Eastern religious ideas adapted for Western readers. His books helped introduce popular audiences to ideas about mind power, spiritual discipline, practical metaphysics, and inner development at a time when New Thought, Theosophy, occultism, and comparative religion were reaching a wide English-language readership.Atkinson's Ramacharaka books are notable for their confident instructional style, broad synthesis, and effort to translate esoteric and spiritual ideas into accessible lessons. Mystic Christianity, first published in 1907, applies that same metaphysical approach to the Christian tradition, presenting the life and teachings of Jesus as an inner doctrine concerned with spiritual awakening, hidden wisdom, and the development of divine consciousness. Atkinson's influence extends across New Thought, self-help, occult studies, yoga literature, metaphysical religion, and the modern literature of mind and spirit.
