Electronic Communication and Artificial Intelligence: River Publishers Series in Computing and Information Science and Technology
Editat de Paul R.P. Hoole, K. Pirapaharan, Samuel R. H. Hooleen Limba Engleză Hardback – 23 dec 2026
Covering topics such as AI-driven smart buildings, the Internet of Things, intelligent networking systems, adaptive beamforming, smart power grids, data analysis and visualization, advanced wireless communications, and intelligent antenna systems, the book demonstrates how modern engineering is increasingly defined by intelligent, connected technologies.
A strong emphasis is placed on real-world applications that address some of today’s most pressing engineering challenges—from autonomous structural control in high-rise buildings exposed to extreme weather and seismic activity, to AI-enabled smart homes that monitor safety, energy efficiency, and human well-being through integrated sensor networks and intelligent decision-making systems.
Through practical examples spanning home automation, infrastructure resilience, wireless communications, and even aerospace applications, the authors reveal the breadth, impact, and future potential of electronic communication and AI engineering. Designed for students, researchers, and practicing engineers, this book provides both a solid foundation and a forward-looking exploration of one of the most dynamic and influential areas of modern technology.

Notă biografică
Prof. Paul R.P. Hoole was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 1958. After having his basic schooling in Jaffna, he earned all his degrees, first degree to postgraduate, in the United Kingdom. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with a Mark of Distinction from the University of London and an M.Sc. degree in Plasma Science from University of Oxford. His doctorate, the D.Phil. degree, is from the University of Oxford. In his engineering career he has spent time in Singapore, Papua New Guinea, USA, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. His most recent published research has been in the areas of electromagnetic wireless communication/navigation antennas, electromagnetic brain technology and science, climate electromagnetics and lightning-aircraft electrodynamics. Beyond the time he devotes to engineering teaching and research, Prof. Hoole also spends time studying and teaching the Bible applied to contemporary times in seminaries and churches. He is married to a medical doctor, Chrishanthy, and they have three children: Esther, Ezekiel and Elisabeth. He is also a founding Director of the Pilgrims Institute seeking to assist children and young people from deprived communities in education, health and skills development.
Professor K. Pirapaharan has been serving as professor in Communication Engineering at the School of Electrical and Communications Engineering, PNG University of Technology since July 2024. Prior to this, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He has also served in the College of Engineering, Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka and University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He obtained his bachelor’s degree with first class honours from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Kindai University Japan. In addition, he was a research scientist at the Centre for Computational Electromagnetics, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA. He is a Chartered Engineer from the Engineering Council UK and a Corporate Engineer from the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka. He is a member of the IEEE, the IET and IESL. Professor Pirapaharan’s research interests include computational electromagnetics, wave propagation in inhomogeneous media, AI based smart and reconfigurable antennas and AI based solutions for climate change.
Prof.Samuel Ratnajeevan H. Hoole, B.Sc. Eng. Hons Cey., M.Sc. with Mark of Distinction London, Ph.D. Carnegie Mellon, was Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan State University in the US until his retirement and is presently President of Baldaeus Theological College in Trincomalee Sri Lanka. For his accomplishments in electromagnetic product synthesis, the University of London awarded him its higher doctorate, the D.Sc. (Eng.) degree, in 1993, and the IEEE elevated him to the grade of Fellow in 1995 with the citation “For contributions to computational methods for design optimization of electrical devices.” He is presently IEEE Life Fellow, and a past Editor of the IEEE Transactions (Magnetics and Education) and other journals. Prof. Hoole has been Vice Chancellor of University of Jaffna in Sri Lanka and as Member of the University Grants Commission there was responsible with six others for the regulation of the administration of all 15 Sri Lankan universities and their admissions and funding. He has served on the Boards of the National Science Foundation, and Association for the Advancement of Science, both of Sri Lanka.
