Climate-Resilient Highways Infrastructure: Studies on Adaptation, Policy and Guidelines in India: Taylor and Francis Proceedings in Civil and Structural Engineering
Editat de Amir Ali Khanen Limba Engleză Hardback – 21 ian 2027
Based on the recent research and case studies, this volume advances a systematic methodology for climate risk identification, vulnerability assessment and the prioritization of adaptation measures. It critically engages with existing codes, standards and institutional practices, proposing refined guidelines that respond to evolving environmental stresses across diverse physiographic and socio-economic contexts. The book emphasizes evidence-based decision making, incorporating cost benefit perspectives, risk informed planning and adaptive management principles. It also addresses the institutional and policy dimensions necessary for mainstreaming resilience within national infrastructure agendas.
Designed for scholars, engineers and policymakers, this work serves as both a conceptual reference and a practical guide. By aligning infrastructure development with climate imperatives, it contributes to the creation of robust, future ready highway systems capable of withstanding the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

Notă biografică
Amir Ali Khan is the Head of the Resilient Infrastructure Division (RID) at the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. With over three decades of experience, he specializes in resilient infrastructure and earthquake risk mitigation and has worked extensively at national, regional and international levels. He has served with several UN agencies, including as UNDP’s National Disaster Reduction Advisor in Uzbekistan, where he strengthened national disaster management capacities and chaired the UN Disaster Preparedness and Response Group. He has contributed to developing multi-hazard early warning SOPs in Southeast Asia and supported disaster management planning for cities, ministries, and institutions. A strong advocate of mainstreaming DRR across development sectors such as housing, Highways, urban development, power, telecommunications, health and education etc. Prof. Khan has authored over 80 publications, 8 books and around 30 professional reports. He has significant international exposure, having worked and delivered capacity-building programmes across the USA, Europe, Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
