Set in and around the city of Eboracum (York), 'When the Eagle Rules in the Place of the Yew Trees' follows the life of Laticcos, a native Briton in Roman Britain. Sold into slavery and raised as a Roman, Laticcos struggles to decide on his identity and is constantly torn internally. None of this matters though for his best friend and brother, the son of his master, keeps him steady and calm and they become the closest of friends. Growing up, Laticcos continues to be torn but his friend is always there until then, one day, he's not. Laticcos is lost without his friend and his life spirals out of control.
