In the last hundred years, modern physics and cosmology have shown that there exist regions of the universe forever beyond our reach, hidden by truly ultimate horizons. Notă biografică

Helmut Satz ist emeritierter Professor für Theoretische Physik an der Universität Bielefeld. Er ist einer der Pioniere in der Erforschung von Materie bei extremen Temperaturen und Dichten, die heute experimentell am CERN/Genf und im Brookhaven National Laboratory bei New York untersucht wird. Satz war in beiden Forschungszentren lange Zeit als theoretischer Berater tätig. Philippe Blanchard war von 1970 bis 1973 Fellow am CERN und sofort danach Professor für mathematische Physik an der Universität Bielefeld. Er ist Autor zahlreicher Fachbücher. Christoph Kommer hat in Heidelberg Physik mit Spezialisierung in Kosmologie und Quantenfeldtheorie studiert. Derzeit promoviert er am Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrum in Heidelberg. Seit vielen Jahren ist er an diversen Projekten zur populärwissenschaftlichen Vermittlung in der Physik beteiligt.
