The Scottish cavalier

Autor James Grant
en Limba Engleză Paperback – iun 2019
Steel flashes, banners rise, and loyalties fracture across the glens. Scotland stands on a knife-edge. In The Scottish cavalier: An Historical Romance, James Grant turns 17th century Scotland into a charged landscape of chivalry and honor, royalist political intrigue, and love amid conflict. Written for Victorian readers hungry for history and passion, this Victorian romance novel fuses classic historical romance with brisk Scottish adventure fiction and a strong sense of place across the historical British Isles. Politics presses in at every turn: private vows meet public duty, and the Royalist cause colours every choice, giving the story the pulse of royalist civil war fiction. In the tradition of a walter scott inspired romance, Grant treats the past as living drama rather than museum-piece spectacle. Read today, it stands as a key example of nineteenth-century Scottish historical storytelling - a complete classic novel for anyone who wants romance with grit, and a natural fit for a collectors edition library. Grant (1812-1887) wrote for a broad audience, and his storytelling still reads with immediacy: brisk scene-setting, clear emotional stakes, and a sincere belief in honour tested under pressure. For casual readers, it offers an absorbing escape into seventeenth-century politics and passion; for classic-literature collectors, a distinctive Victorian voice in Scotland's romantic tradition, worth keeping close for many years. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
