The Resurrectors

Dr. Cheryl LaRoche is a historical archaeologist who has spent thirty years studying the Underground Railroad movement. She is Associate Research Professor in Historic Preservation at the University of Maryland, and a recipient of the Calvert Prize from the Maryland Historical Trust and the John L. Cotter Award from the Society for Historical Archaeology. The National Park Service Network to Freedom has recognized her work with both the Frederick Douglass Underground Railroad Legacy Award and the Wilbur Siebert Award. She served as archaeological conservator on the New York African Burial Ground project and has consulted for the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Park Service. The Resurrectors is her first children's book, drawing on her years of original research to look at the Underground Railroad through the experiences of children.
