The Prediction Trade: When Wall Street Meets the Wisdom of Crowds
Autor Andrew Nissenbaumen Limba Engleză Paperback – 6 apr 2027
The Prediction Trade provides a comprehensive guide to how traders, hedge funds, political operatives, and information aggregators shape prediction markets, delivering a Wall Street trader's battle-tested perspective on the revolution in information markets.
The book provides both foundational knowledge and advanced strategies applicable to real-world prediction trading and analysis. It demonstrates how professional arbitrageurs, political insiders, quantitative funds, and retail information traders drive price discovery and how prediction market structure creates leverage opportunities that dwarf traditional financial markets. Written by a seasoned trader with over 30 years of experience at institutions including Soros Fund Management, this book brings a professional trader's skeptical eye to these markets. The analysis is not that of a believer or a critic, but of a trader who has seen every market innovation from program trading to cryptocurrencies, separating genuine innovation from hype, and showing readers how these markets function. While most books focus on either the theoretical efficiency of information markets or their regulatory challenges, this book explores prediction markets as simultaneously betting platforms, information aggregation systems, hedge instruments, and crypto innovations. Using a narrative approach, character-driven stories bring prediction markets to life. With over $3.7 billion wagered on the 2024 US election alone and major brokerages like Robinhood entering the space, these markets represent the next frontier in price discovery.
The Prediction Trade is for Currency traders, hedge fund managers, quantitative traders and data scientists, crypto and DeFi participants and risk managers.

Recenzii
"The Prediction Trade is a unique journey into prediction markets. Through vivid stories of traders, market makers, experts, and ordinary people, the book brings to life the forces that make these markets work—and sometimes fail. It moves effortlessly between the human and the technical, combining the rigor of financial history and market analysis with the immediacy of short stories.
Insightful, provocative, and immensely enjoyable, The Prediction Trade makes sophisticated ideas accessible without ever sacrificing their complexity. The reader learns not only what prediction markets are, but also why they matter economically and how expertise, patience, and emotion shape trading decisions. Along the way, concepts like information, liquidity, risk, and incentives become crystal clear and intuitive. This is a rare book that offers a truly enjoyable reading experience while at the same time deepening our understanding of a highly consequential financial market. After reading the book, the reader will not look at prediction markets the same way again."
