Notă biografică

Maxine Beneba Clarke is an Australian writer and slam poet champion of Afro-Caribbean descent. In 2015, she was named one of Sydney Morning Herald's Best Young Novelists of the year. She lives in Australia.

Van Thanh Rudd is an Australian street artist and activist who studied at the Victorian College of the Arts, RMIT University, and Griffith University. The Patchwork Bike is his first picture book. He lives in Melbourne with his family.

Beautifully written and incredibly powerful.
This is a wonderfully fast-moving picture book that celebrates the rebellious, the inventive and the just plain entertaining spirit of kids who are left to, rather than on their own devices.
Review
a simple story artistically portrayed
Rudd's gritty and simple illustrations in thick paint and mixed media capture the landscape and the exhilaration all kids, wherever they live, feel when they take that first wobbly ride to freedom.
