The Humanual, Volume 4: The Humanual, cartea 4

Autor Adam Blak
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 30 sep 2026
Volume 3 taught you how to navigate a room full of people. This volume is about the building: who designed it, who profits from the floor plan, and why the fire exits are so hard to find.
The Map is the fourth volume of The Humanual, and it makes visible the systems every human lives inside without having chosen them. It explains how tribal instincts get reverse-engineered into political weapons, how power actually operates (and what it does to the brains of people who hold it), what institutions are for and how they get captured, how money works (it is a shared story backed by trust) and how inequality gets manufactured, how the global order came to be shaped the way it is, how the information landscape became a hall of mirrors, what the machine in your pocket is collecting and why, what artificial intelligence is and is not, and how health systems, education systems, and the living planet itself are shaped by every other chapter in the book.
It ends with the citizen: given all of this, what can one person actually do? The honest answer turns out to be more than you would think and less than the guilt would suggest.
Sharp without cynicism and critical without despair, The Map is for anyone who has looked around at the world and asked: wait, we built this? On purpose? Yes. Here is the blueprint.

Notă biografică

Adam Blak was issued a human body in the usual way, without paperwork, and has spent the years since trying to work out how it operates. The Humanual is his notes. Every claim in it was checked against the evidence, which is more than can be said for most of what you were told about being a person. He is also the author of The Good Work, a shorter book about how people might treat one another, and he lives near Philadelphia, where he is, at the time of writing, still a human.
