The Eras Reader: Taylor Swift and 21st-Century Pop Culture: Routledge Readers in Gender and Pop Culture
Editat de Elizabeth Scalaen Limba Engleză Hardback – 6 apr 2027
Taylor Swift’s influence and cultural capital goes beyond the realm of celebrity studies. As such, the 13 essays that make up this collection examine the tour from a wide array of disciplinary approaches and vantage points. The Reader begins with essays that explore the literary, linguistic, and artistic forms the Eras Tour engages, produces, relies upon, and celebrates, making connections to all kinds of “literary” categories. It continues with essays that look at the tour from beyond Swift’s stage or writing desk, by engaging with its various audiences and the cultural spectacle as a whole. It closes with quantitative accounts of Swift’s cultural power in sociological, economic, and legal arenas. Through an analysis of this tour event and the previous eras that it revisits and contextualizes (reaching back to 2008), the essays in this collection provide engaging literary, historical, sociological, feminist, and critical studies of Swift’s career and cultural position.
Calling all Swifties, The Eras Tour Reader is essential reading for students and scholars of Contemporary Literature, Media Studies, Gender Studies, and Cultural Studies.
