A step-by-step system to prepare for divorce emotionally, financially, administratively and practically
Nearly 50% of people who've been through divorce say it was harder than they expected - and with the average cost of divorce reaching $20,000 in 2024, going into the process unprepared isn't just stressful, it's expensive.
The Divorce Planner: 8 Weeks to Get Organized, Find Clarity, and Become Your Own Best Advocate is the only divorce preparation guide that addresses the emotional, financial, administrative, and practical aspects of divorce in one clear, week-by-week system.
Divorce prep coach and author Alex Beattie drew on her own divorce experience and thousands of hours working with clients to develop this successful, road-tested preparation method. The book gives readers the tools to show up to attorney consultations, mediation, and negotiations fully prepared and confidently in control.
Each week builds on the last, ending with concrete action items that turn an overwhelming process into manageable, measurable progress. By the end of eight weeks, readers aren't just informed - they're attorney-ready.
Inside, you'll find:

• Preparation tools and tactics designed to reduce attorney fees, miscommunication, and costly mistakes during the divorce process
• A proven framework to identify your goals and priorities and make informed financial, legal, and parenting decisions
• Guidance and checklists for organizing and understanding financial records, property documents, assets, and debts
• Information on building a post-divorce budget with CDFA-vetted digital tools
