Identity. The Emperor's reign has lasted for decades, his mastery of bone shard magic powering the animal-like constructs that maintain law and order. But now his rule is failing, and revolution is sweeping across the Empire's many islands.
Lin is the Emperor's daughter and she spends her days trapped in a palace of locked doors and dark secrets. When her father refuses to recognise her as heir to the throne, she vows to prove her worth by mastering the forbidden art of bone shard magic. Yet such power carries a great cost, and when the revolution reaches the gates of the palace, Lin must decide how far she is willing to go to claim her birthright - and save her people.
The Bone Shard Daughter is an unmissable fantasy debut - a captivating tale of magic, revolution and mystery, where a young woman's sense of identity will make or break an empire. 'A bold, ambitious debut' M. R.

Hobeanu Irina a dat nota:
This review is long overdue! I read this stunning piece of fantasy back in December and have been thinking about it since then. Apart from the cover design (which is amazing!) the story is truly a piece of art and I loved every piece of it: the world, the magic system, the characters which are all so well written. And don’t get me started on the plot😅. The lead female character develops so smoothly and the supporting characters just bring it all together. Moreover, we have multiple perspectives (and secondary storylines) which make the overall book feel like a full blown saga. The rhythm is definitely fast, however mystery is a key component here. If you’re going to give it a chance (which I highly recommend) you’re in for a BIG surprise towards the end. I love the author’s well balanced writing style - always giving us glimpses into the whole plan, but never revealing everything at once, so you just keep reading to put all the clues together.
