Synchronous Generators

Autor Ion Boldea
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 15 ian 2027
The subject of electric generators (covered in the two-volume set Synchronous Generators and Variable-Speed Generators) has attracted formidable R&D effort in both academia and various industries over the past decade. Electric generators design, testing and control, the subject of the present book set may constitute a new senior or graduate course in universities with electric power programs. Over the last 10 years, the design and control of electric generators for applications in energy conversion, through transport electrification, e‑buildings, industrial processes, and auxiliary power sources have inspired a rich body of new knowledge. As of 2025, the wind energy industry alone has more than 1,000 GW of installed power. In view of this progress, we decided (after 10 years) to come up with a new (third) edition of this two‑volume set that:
  • Retains the structure of the second edition to avoid confusion for long‑term users
  • Maintains the style of the previous edition and includes more numerical workout examples of practical interest, together with more case studies to inspire the new R&D reader
  • Includes additional (though minor) needed text and number corrections
  • Adds numerous new paragraphs to most existing chapters, especially case studies on the design and control of recent electric generator systems that are currently of high industrial interest
