📚 Jake Fisher is a young Professor at Lanford College in Vermont, and his life seems a normal one: he lives alone in the campus, students like him, he’s got a best friend, Benedict, who’s also a professor, but his heart still aches for Natalie Avery, whom he fell in love with six years ago, and whom he watched get inexplicably married with Todd Sanderson, one of her former beaus. 📖 Although Jake had promised Natalie after the wedding that he would not seek her or try to make contact, he never stopped having feelings for her. So, six years later, Jake accidently sees an obituary for Todd Sanderson, and he decides to go to the funeral and pay his respects to Natalie, the freshly widowed woman he still loved, hoping, of course, to rekindle their emotional connection. 🖋Starting from here on, everything we thought we knew, or suspected is dismantled, and Harlan Coben takes us on paths never imagined, where mysteries increase and thicken. Jake’s life turns into a constant search, filled with twists and turns, good people, and bad people, and we excitingly accompany him on the trail he sets out on, searching for the love of his life. 🌟 “Six Years” is my first Harlan Coben novel, after having binge-watched his Netflix mini-series (“The Stranger”, “Safe”, “Stay Close”, “The Woods”, “The Innocent”, and “Gone for Good”), and I can tell you I was not disappointed. Suspense novels were not necessarily my cup of tea, but I definitely enjoyed this one. I almost binge-read it too, without suspecting too much of the truth until it was fully revealed. Just like Jake, I had my hunches, but none of them turned out to be exactly what the author had in mind. Long story short, should you like to read a witty, contemporary novel of suspense, Harlan Coben’s Six Years is a page turner which should be on your “to-be-read” list.
