Recenzii
Historian Downs (Connecticut College) carefully investigates this this topic from varying angles, and in doing so provides a fresh perspective on African American history and the era of the Civil War and Reconstruction.
Down's depiction is of a people overwhelmed by disaster, and inadequately aided by their supposed blue-coated saviors.
