Several True (I Think) Stories

Autor James E. Gibson
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 9 iun 2016
Several True (I Think) Stories: Can Truth Be Stranger Than Fiction? discusses numerous unusual events. The majority of them were personally experienced or witnessed by the author. The incidents described include in no particular order: "witch's fire" from the author's eyes, a "miraculous" healing, a summer snowstorm in southeastern Kentucky, two objects being elevated by unknown forces, meeting former CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite in an unusual way, prayer apparently causing an electrical outage, some strange "coincidences," and several other stories. The book contains 52 chapters, in addition to the Introduction. Most chapters are very short. The book only contains 93 pages from the Introduction through the Conclusion/Summary chapter. Over 50 stories are covered in those 93 pages. Readers may find some of the stories unbelievable, but the author sought to be truthful in his descriptions of the events. The author feels that hyperbole is a fancy word for lying and usually needs to be avoided when writing nonfiction. The book ends with a brief Conclusion/Summary chapter.

Notă biografică

James E. Gibson is a former agnostic who became a Christian during his college years. He self-published his first book, True Christianity: It May Not Be What You Think, in 2014 (second edition in 2015). Several True (I Think) Stories: Can Truth Be Stranger Than Fiction? is his second book. In addition to the books, he has written numerous articles for websites such as Google Blogger, Newsvine (username jameseg), Yahoo! Voices (and its predecessor Associated Content), and Helium. James graduated from the University of Kentucky with an MBA, as well as B.S. degrees in mining engineering and civil engineering. His undergraduate electives included several English courses and his graduate school coursework included some Communications courses. Since his childhood he has loved to read and write. As a bivocational freelance writer, he has worked a variety of second jobs to help keep the bills paid while fulfilling his dream of developing a writing career. A series of unusual events/coincidences and the author's inappropriate way of speaking about them led to a series of things that resulted in a few brief psychiatric hospitalizations for him and outpatient psychiatric treatment during the period of 1993 to 1996. But he was blessed immeasurably during that time and is blessed immeasurably now as well. That period gave him additional insights into Christianity. James remains single and feels that may be God's will for him for his entire life. He would love for everyone to live happier, healthier, longer lives with no sin, pain, or suffering and then go on to live forever in heaven. He feels that as we come closer to practicing true Christianity, we come closer to reaching this ideal, too.
