What does it mean to belong-to a place, to a family, to more than one world?
When sixteen-year-old Angelie travels from America to India after the loss of her mother, she expects grief-not her sister Naomi vanishing into thin air, or a stranger making impossible claims. To find her, Angelie must embrace the myths she never believed in-or lose her sister forever.
She and her sister Siena cross into Sayadri, a sentient land in the time-slipped highlands of medieval India-a world rooted in South Asian mythology, where forests whisper, spirits manipulate, and the past refuses to stay buried.
Caught between worlds and cultures, the sisters are drawn into a web of ancient grudges and shifting power. Guided-and deceived-by prophetic witches and dangerous charmers, and hunted by assassins, shapeshifters, and restless spirits, they begin to question everything they believe-about the world, their family, and even each other.
To survive, they must unravel their family's forgotten past and navigate loyalties that refuse to stay fixed.
As Angelie moves between worlds, she must confront what it means to belong to more than one-whether it deepens obligation, divides loyalty, or reshapes both.
In Sayadri, the land is alive, aware. It does not let you leave unchanged.
For readers who love mythic fantasy, sibling bonds, ancient worlds, and stories where the land itself has a voice.
A YA fantasy of sisterhood, prophecy, and belonging, rooted in the mythology and landscapes of southern India.
