Rhinologic and Sleep Apnea Surgical Techniques

As technology advances, practicing or training otolaryngologists register in educational courses to refresh their surgical skills and stay abreast of these changes. While information is becoming available in several journals, there is a definite need for a single surgical atlas-like book that contains precise descriptions of the surgical techniques used in rhinology and sleep apnea surgery. Each chapter was written by surgeons with extensive experience in each topic who have already published on the specific procedure described. Each chapter contains diagrammatic or illustrative descriptions of surgical techniques and provides tips and pearls of wisdom to avoid complications when the procedures are performed. This comprehensive work of surgical information serves as a valuable resource for otolaryngologists in training to augment their surgical education and for practicing otolaryngologists as a review source to best approach the surgical pathologies they encounter in their practice of rhinology and treatment of sleep apnea.

Recenzii

From the reviews:
"The primary intention of this book is to provide surgeons with an update in these two areas, regarding new instrumentation and surgical techniques. … The book appears to be written for general otolaryngologists … . It may also be useful for residents in training as an atlas … . The authors represent a wide spectrum of experts from multiple international institutions." (Rakesh K Chandra, Doody's Review Service, August, 2007)
"The book is devoted to rhinology (Chaps. 1-25) and to sleep apnea (Chaps. 26-48) … . Very numerous and excellent drawings and pictures have been selected to make difficult anatomy or surgical techniques accessible to the reader showing that the book has been carefully planned to address residents and trainees, as well as specialists. … it is a comprehensive update of current surgical techniques written by experts in their field, and therefore it is a must in a specialist’s library." (Manuel Bernal-Sprekelsen, European Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, Vol. 265, 2008)

Textul de pe ultima copertă

This fully revised and completely updated second edition provides a comprehensive overview of the fields of rhinology/skull base and obstructive sleep apnea. It summarizes all advances and describes surgical techniques using diagrammatic, photographic and video clip illustrations. The incidence of sinusitis and sleep apnea is increasing worldwide as people continue to gain weight and live in environments conductive to type 2 helper lymphocyte related disease. With that increase, we are seeing the development of better surgical techniques and technology, medical and instrumental, to help us take care of our patients. Highly experienced international faculty authors the chapters, sharing their philosophy and surgical techniques designed to prevent complications. The chapters are grouped into sinonasal/skull base and sleep apnea sections and are listed starting first with basic and then progress to cover advanced surgical techniques. Each chapter contains disease presentation, diagnostic techniques, medical management, indications for surgery, surgical techniques and tips to avoid complications.
Rhinologic and Sleep Apnea Surgical Techniques 2nd edition will be an invaluable resource for learners of all levels and practicing otolaryngologists.
