Resilience, Robustness, and Vulnerability of Transport Systems

Autor Milan Jani¿
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 23 noi 2022
This book is focused on the analysis and modelling of resilience, robustness, and vulnerability of transport systems and their complement: reliability. It provides an elaboration on their generic concepts, analysing disruptive events and nature of their impacts. It also offers an analysis and modelling of the system performances and their indicators relevant for the main actors involved. Applications of the models of performances and their resilience, robustness, and vulnerability to the selected cases of road, rail, air, and maritime transport mode affected by different internal and external disruptive events are also presented. By offering readers a systematic and comprehensive way of dealing with the topic of resilience, robustness, and vulnerability of transport systems and their complement, reliability, this book will be of interest to researchers and professionals alike within the transport industry.

Notă biografică

Professor Milan Janić is a transport and traffic engineer and planner. At present, Research Professor at the University of Belgrade. Previously, he was Senior Researcher in the Transport & Planning Department and a Leader of the Research Program in the OTB Research Institute at Delft University of Technology, Manchester Metropolitan University and Loughborough University (UK), and the Institute of Transport of the Slovenian Railways (Slovenia).

Dr Janić has been involved in many research and planning projects at both national and international scale for almost forty years. He has also published numerous papers in the peer-reviewed scientific and professional journals. In addition to contributing to many edited books, he has been the author of the 9 (nine) book monographs, including ‘System Analysis and Modelling in Air Transport: Demand, Capacity, Quality of Services, Economic, and Sustainability’ ‘Advanced Transport Systems: Analysis, Modelling, and Evaluation of Performances’, and the co-author of the book ‘Transportation Engineering: Theory, Practice, and Modelling’.

As well, Dr Janić is and used to be a member of Editorial Boards of several transport research-related journals, and the associations and conferences such as NECTAR (Network on European Communications and Transport Activity Research), Air Transport Research Society (ATRS), Airfield and Airspace Capacity and Delay Committee of TRB (Transportation Research Board) (Washington DC, USA), GARS (German Aviation Research Society, Berlin, Germany), and Delft Aviation Centre (Delft, the Netherlands). Dr Janić was also among Stanford’s World’s Top two percent scientists during the period 2019-2020.
