Reframing Community Equipment Services as a System-Level Intervention: The Invisible Infrastructure

Autor Mark Rance
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 12 mar 2027
Reframing Community Equipment Services as a System-Level Intervention: The Invisible Infrastructure reframes community equipment services (CES) as a form of enabling infrastructure that shapes system behaviour across health and social care.
Drawing on evidence from the Kirklees Integrated Community Equipment Service (KICES), chapters demonstrate how aligned CES improves flow, reduces variation, and stabilises demand. The book begins by exposing the invisibility of CES within strategic thinking and how misalignment is absorbed quietly through small, repeated inefficiencies that accumulate into system-wide pressure. A blueprint for alignment is presented, focusing on implementation to offer practical guidance to commissioners and system leaders.
Offering a clear, evidence-based route for transforming services, this book addresses system behaviour, professional confidence, and the practical realities of delivering safe, timely, and equitable care for professionals working in health and social care.

His experience spans both the public and private sectors, having previously worked within the Community Equipment Services provider market. This dual perspective provides a practical understanding of both commissioning and delivery including provider capacity, market dependency, and operational performance.
