Dr. Sarita Pandey is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at The Neotia University, West Bengal, India. She received her Ph.D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. With over 12 years of academic and research experience, Dr. Pandey has contributed to crop improvement research through national and international collaborations, including professional associations with ICRISAT, India, and CIMMYT, Mexico. Her work has been supported by competitive fellowships such as the SERB National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NPDF) of the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India; University Grant Commission Fellowship of the Government of India, and the Women Scientist Award of the Society of Agricultural Research and Social Development (SARSD), New Delhi, India. She has also served as the Principal Investigator of a DST-funded research project and holds three granted design patents. Her research integrates conventional breeding with genomics-assisted approaches for the genetic improvement of oilseed and legume crops, with a strong emphasis on disease resistance and yield enhancement under diverse agro-climatic conditions. She has published 20 peer-reviewed research articles in reputed international journals, authored two academic books, contributed multiple book chapters, and supervised postgraduate and doctoral scholars. Her work contributes to sustainable crop improvement and global food security initiatives. Dr. Pandey actively contributes to the scholarly community as a peer reviewer for leading international journals, serves on editorial boards, and holds membership in several prominent professional scientific societies.
Md. Kamaruzzaman is an accomplished academic and researcher with a robust background in robotics, mechatronics engineering and intelligent systems. He is currently an Assistant Professor at The Neotia University, Kolkata, India. Previously he was associated with the Aliah University, Kolkata. He has more than 9 years of teaching as well as more than 5 years of research experience. His research interests include RWSNs, intelligent mechatronic and robotic systems, smart agriculture and the modeling and simulation of robotic systems. Md. Kamaruzzaman has published more than 20 research articles in reputed international journals, prestigious conference proceedings and prominent research oriented books. He has been involved in numerous workshops and conferences, both as an organizer and participant. His professional memberships include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Internet of Things Technical Committee, IEEE Sensor Council, International Association of Engineers (IAENG), and the London Journal Press. He has also been recognized for his contributions with awards such as a national scholarship and the Rosalind Membership of the London Journal Press, UK. Recently, he got Young Scientist award from the Society of Agricultural Research and Social Development (SARSD), New Delhi, India. Md. Zaman regularly reviews manuscripts for high-impact international journals, undertakes editorial responsibilities, and is an active member of recognized professional organizations in his discipline.
Dr. Dinesh Kumar Saini is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Science at the Texas Tech University, Texas, USA. His research spans trait mapping, marker-assisted and genomic selection, high-throughput phenotyping, and the integration of physiological and data-driven approaches to accelerate crop improvement. He collaborates closely with breeders, physiologists, and data scientists to dissect the physiological, molecular, and histological mechanisms that enhance yield potential and resilience in crops. Dr. Saini earned his master’s degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, India, and qualified several national-level examinations, including Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)- National Eligibility Test, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, and ICAR-Senior Research Fellowship. During his Ph.D. at Punjab Agricultural University, India he was awarded the prestigious Department of Science & Technology (DST)- INSPIRE Fellowship of the Ministry of Science & Technology and ICAR-SRF, recognizing his academic excellence. He received university gold medals in his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, along with several honors such as the Dr. M. S. Randhawa Medal and Chancellor’s Medals. He has co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed research articles, 20 book chapters, and numerous conference abstracts/papers. Dr. Saini actively serves as a reviewer for reputed international journals, is a member of multiple professional societies, and sits on several editorial boards. He has also edited two books with Taylor & Francis Group, Inc. His expertise in crop adaptation, genomics, and precision phenotyping contributes significantly to advancing sustainable and climate-smart agriculture, which are key themes reflected in this edited volume on Precision Agriculture.
Prof. Chittaranjan Kole, often regarded as the “Father of Plant Genomics in India” and the “Father of Agri-Nanotechnology in the World” is an internationally reputed scientist with an illustrious professional career spanning over forty years and original contributions in the fields of plant genomics, biotechnology, and molecular breeding leading to the publication of more than 170 impactful research articles and reviews. He has edited over 200 books for the globally leading publishers. His scientific contributions and editing acumen have been appreciated by seven Nobel Laureates including Profs. Norman Borlaug, Arthur Kornberg, Werner Arber, Phillip Sharp, Günter Blobel, Lee Hartwell and Roger Kornberg. He has been honored with several fellowships, honorary fellowships, and national and international awards including the Outstanding Crop Scientist award conferred by the International Crop Science Society. He was also awarded the Raja Ramanna Fellow by the Department of Energy, Government of India. He has served in all prestigious positions in academia including as the Vice-Chancellor of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Project Coordinator of the Indo-Russian Center of Biotechnology in India, and Director of Research of Institute of Nutraceutical Research of Clemson University, in USA. He also served as a Visiting Professor at the Pennsylvania State University and the Clemson University, both in the USA. He is also heading the International Climate-Resilient Crop Genomics Consortium, International Phytomedomics and Nutriomics Consortium and Genome India International as their Founder President.
