Nuclear Agriculture: Applications and Achievements of Mutation Breeding: Nextgen Agriculture

Editat de Penna Suprasanna, S. Mohan Jain, Shoba Sivasankar, Chittaranjan Kole
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 3 mai 2027
Food security is a major global challenge in the face of population growth, climate change and increasing pressure on agricultural resources. Meeting the growing demand for food requires innovative crop-improvement strategies, including conventional breeding, induced mutagenesis and modern biotechnological approaches. Nuclear agriculture, through the peaceful application of nuclear and radiation technologies, has made significant contributions to crop improvement and food production.
Nuclear Agriculture: Applications and Achievements of Mutation Breeding provides a comprehensive collection of successful applications of mutation breeding across economically important crops. Contributions from internationally recognised researchers present case studies, successful mutant varieties and key methodologies used in mutation breeding. It covers major crops, including cereals, legumes, oilseeds, commercial crops, horticultural crops, ornamentals and medicinal plants, with an emphasis on traits such as yield, stress tolerance, climate resilience and nutritional quality.
The book will be a valuable reference for researchers, plant breeders, students and policymakers involved in mutation breeding, crop improvement and food security, while highlighting the continuing potential of mutation breeding for sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.
