Dr. Wan Muhamad Saridan Wan Hassan has previously served as an associate professor and head of the Department of Physics at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, a Master of Science in physics from the University of California, Riverside, and a PhD from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. His areas of expertise are radiation physics and medical imaging. He retired from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2020.

It covers various topics specifically related to physical mechanics, the properties of matter, and heat. Each chapter begins with a summary of concepts, principles, definitions, and formulae to be discussed, as well as ending with problems and solutions that illustrate the specific topic.
