Tim Padfield MA, LLM worked for over thirty years at The National Archives (formerly the Public Record Office) as an Assistant Keeper of Public Records and then as Secretary of the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Council on Public Records and, for fifteen years, as Copyright Officer, advising TNA and archivists around the UK on copyright issues of all kinds. He retired in 2013 but maintains an interest in the law of copyright with particular reference to unpublished materials. He is a past chair of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance and has a postgraduate law degree, with merit, from the University of London with a specialism in intellectual property.

She qualified as an archivist in 2012, taking an MSc in Information Management and Preservation in the Department of Information Studies at the University of Glasgow and later went on to a PhD study examining the ways in which copyright law affects the digitization of archive collections in the UK, which she completed in 2018.
