Neurodiversity Understood: Going Beyond Labels to Support and Value Those Who Are Neurodivergent

Autor Rona Tutt, Paul Williams
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 3 mar 2027
Would you like to truly transform your understanding of every learner in your classroom? This helpful resource empowers teachers to embrace neurodiversity as a natural spectrum that includes all learners, shifting from deficit-based language to a strengths-focused approach that celebrates what every child can achieve.
Through an understanding of the historical context of SEND provision in schools, readers will discover how to move beyond outdated terms like "difficulty" and "disorder" to recognize and nurture each student's unique differences. The authors also provide an evolution of neurodiversity, SEND & AP systems and explain why this context matters so much for today's educators.
Fully supported by real classroom case studies showing practical strategies that work across diverse educational settings, the evidence-based approaches in this resource will help to unlock potential in every learner, whether you’re a classroom teacher, a SENCO, an education leader or studying for the NPQ SENCO Qualification.

Recenzii

'This is a comprehensive book, which will be helpful for anyone with an interest in SEND. It successfully weaves in the history of Special Educational Needs in England, the concept of neurodiversity since its inception, the tortuous path of Governments policy, and real-life case studies. What stood out for me most is the affirming view of difference which shines through this book.'
Daniel Stavrou, Assistant Director, Council for Disabled Children
