My Lucky Leaf
Autor Laura Smetanaen Limba Engleză Hardback – sep 2026 – vârsta până la 7 ani
With vivid watercolor collage illustrations crafted from crayon rubbings of actual fall leaves, this playful picture book captures the childhood joys of catching and identifying fall leaves. As leaves of all colors, shapes, and sizes tumble down with each WHOOSH of the wind, a child jumps, leaps, and reaches her way through the forest-while learning the names of leaves along the way. Will her persistence pay off?
Bonus materials include a glossary of fall leaves, a brief history on how Illinois schoolchildren selected the state tree, seasonal activities with fall leaves, and a behind-the-scenes look at how the art was created.
"This lyrical ode to leaves is guaranteed to resonate with the burgeoning nature lover in your life... a must-read for young leaf peepers." -Kirkus Reviews

Notă biografică
Laura Smetana has fond memories of enjoying ice cream with her son and his grandpa, Laura's dad. Ice Cream with Grandpa: A Loving Story for Kids About Alzheimer's & Dementia was inspired by their relationship, before and after her dad developed Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. She has three generations of ice cream scoopers in her home-one from her grandpa, one from her dad, and one she got with her family in France. Each one brings back sweet memories with loved ones. Laura co-authored her debut children's book, Little Squiggle's Lake Adventure, with her son, Stirling Hebda. She lives with her family in the Chicago suburbs, where she is happily at work on several new books for kids. You can visit her at www.laurasmetana.com.
