Recenzii
assured, elegant ... Milton's Angels is a substantial contribution to early-modern studies.
It is an impressive achievement
Joad Raymond's exploration of early modern angelology is a fascinating, ambitious and wide-ranging work... a valuable book
deftly argued, ambitiously constructed book... Milton's Angels vividly reconstructs the world of "radical speculation" in which Milton was immersed
Raymond carries his readers along on a tide of enthusiasm, learning, and sympathy for his subject
[Raymonds] depth of insight and genuine perspicacity in the end make for an unusually rich book that thoughtful readers will want to return to time and again.
This material is invaluable, not least of all for documenting the survival of the angelic hierarchies described by the Pseudo-Dionysius in Protestant culture and not just in Milton. ... his depth of insight and genuine perspicacity in the end make for an unusually rich book that thoughtful readers will want to return to time and again.
