Masinissa
Autor Rob Edmundsen Limba Engleză Paperback – 28 aug 2020
At this moment in the war, the Carthaginian forces are attempting to reform their military strength in North Africa and in the strategically important and historically allied southern Iberian city of Gades (present day Cadiz.) For his part, Masinissa has recently retrieved one of the sacred cups of Melqart (Hercules) which had been hidden in a fortress now occupied by the Roman legions. He is presently taking a small contingent of his most loyal troops to the temple dedicated to Melqart which is located close to the city of Gades to return the cup to its proper religious location. The mood of both he and his men on the journey is mutinous.

Notă biografică
The author is from Swansea in South Wales and has incorporated aspects of his own personal experiences and background into this novel. The initial inspiration for the story came from his Grandfather who recounted his time stationed at a famous racetrack prior to embarking into the conflict of the Second World War. Elements of this story are included in the opening chapter set at the famous Aintree Racetrack in Liverpool. Other locations within the story, specifically those set in South Wales, are also very familiar to the author. One chapter in particular was inspired by the short story, "Who do you wish was with us?" by Dylan Thomas. In both this novel and that short story, characters are stranded overnight at the tidal island Worm's Head at the far end of the Gower Peninsula. The author's children have West African heritage which made the history within the period relating to the contributions of the Nigerian and Ghanaian Spider Brigades particularly intriguing. He has worked for many years in the Further Education sector within short walking distance of where Dylan Thomas was born and raised. He has written two previous historical novels in a short series set during the Second Punic War between Rome and Carthage. Both of these have received favourable reviews and are included in many physical and digital library collections worldwide, including prestigious Ivy League and Oxbridge Universities.
