For the first time since the original publication date, Wieland's translations of Lucian’s satires are now being published in vols. 22-24 of this edition, complete with historical-critical commentary. Wieland’s translations of Lucian, the Greek narrator and satirist, are still counted as the best German translations of this almost 1,900 year old work.
