Justice Interventions: Re-Imagining, Re-Mapping, and Re-Envisioning Possibilities

Editat de Vicki Chartrand, Genner Llanes-Ortiz, Alex Miltsov
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 22 ian 2027
Justice Interventions is an interdisciplinary edited collection that rethinks justice beyond the state, the law, and conventional institutions of punishment. It asks how justice might be imagined and put into practice through relationships, communities, and everyday forms of collective action.
Spanning diverse geopolitical and cultural settings, the contributors explore transformative and abolitionist justice, decolonial thought, and environmental justice frameworks. Across the volume, chapters engage with community accountability, Indigenous resurgence, feminist anti-punitive practice, restorative approaches, digital governance, and struggles over space. Together, they show that communities are not simply waiting for institutional reform but are already building and imagining alternatives to dominant ways of responding to harm. Rather than presenting justice as a fixed ideal delivered by formal institutions, the collection focuses on justice imaginaries: the ideas, practices, relationships, and interventions through which more life-affirming futures can be brought into the present.
Justice Interventions will be relevant to students, scholars, and practitioners working in criminology, sociology, geography, law, political science, anthropology, philosophy, Indigenous studies, feminist studies, environmental studies, and community development. It will also speak to activists, policy-makers, educators, and community organizations interested in new approaches to justice, social transformation, and collective well-being.
