Judaism Since Gender
Editat de Miriam Peskowitz, Laura Levitten Limba Engleză Hardback – 11 feb 2027
In two parts, this thoroughly updated collection offers a multi-vocal conversation organized around a central essay in part one, and six extended analytical studies in part two. This volume demonstrates how multiplicity, contention, and productive disagreement are hallmarks of feminist knowledge production. Through this communal and provisional approach, Judaism Since Gender presents new possibilities for imagining, producing, and distributing knowledge about Jews, Judaism, and Jewishness.

Recenzii
“To read a renewed version of a book that has left its imprints on the very core of the way you know how to think Jewish feminism is like being reunited with kin who have been instrumental in raising you, embracing ancestors and relatives in whose image you learned to find your own voice, and exchanging stories about what you have come to know over the years. With the release of an updated Judaism Since Gender, its longtime readers will continue to grow creased and folded alongside its pages, and new generations will find companions to engage with passion, dwell in the unsettled, bravely break with convention, and disagree well.” - Cara Rock-Singer, Lama Shetzer Professor of Contemporary Jewish Life and assistant professor of Judaic studies, Jean & Samuel Frankel Center for Judaic Studies, University of Michigan, USA.
"Jewish voices have contributed to feminist thought but Jewish thought has been painstakingly slow to feminism. The reissuing of this landmark volume demonstrates how enduring its provocations remain, harkening Jewish communities and Jewish Studies to engage feminist knowledge as vital for their renewal and reform." - Kathryn Lofton, Lex Hixon Professor of Religious Studies and American Studies, Yale University, USA.
“In the late 1990s, this classic anthology burst on the scene as an invitation to expand the boundaries of Jewish studies, ever widening the ideas that could fit in the frame. Now, three decades later, we live in newly constrained times, when government, law, violence, and surveillance force humanity into narrow and desperate places. Enter Levitt and Peskowitz to remind us of the ideas that once expanded our moral imaginations and to introduce new ones that can guide us forward.” - Lila Corwin Berman, Professor of History and Hebrew & Judaic Studies, Paul & Sylvia Steinberg Professor of American Jewish History and Director, Goldstein-Goren Center for American Jewish History, New York University, USA.
