The Capital City Plume (CCP) Site is characterized by shallow groundwater contamination beneath a widespread area of downtown Montgomery, Alabama. The primary contaminant is perchloroethylene (PCE), but other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as trichloroethylene (TCE), and inorganic compounds, such as chromium, have been detected (Black & Veatch, 2002; Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., 2003; Alabama Department of Public Health, 2004; Hall, 2007).
