Clay Wilder moved to Portland, Oregon, three years ago looking for community, love, and success as a visual artist—and so far he’s zero for three. He doesn’t know how to fit in with the trendy artists in the city, or to boil himself down to the elevator pitch that would make him more popular on dating apps. He’s thinking of abandoning the city altogether when he meets someone who might change his feelings about Portland, and his destiny, altogether.
Lee is an older man, grounded, confident, and mature in all the ways Clay isn’t, and he sees something in Clay that no one else has. On their third date, Lee drops a bombshell even Clay—prone to catastrophizing—couldn’t have seen coming. The older man claims to be a visitor from the future.
