Human +

Autor Martin Higgins
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 22 feb 2017
David yearns to change the world. But, he is only a struggling artist, struggling with his rent, drug addiction and -- amidst a storm of dark visions and precognitions -- insanity. When reality finally collapses on the streets of New York, he enters the orbit of a shadowy network of revolutionaries, known only as The Company, lured by the promise of psychic self-mastery and the chance to achieve his deepest desires. David quickly finds himself a key player in a dizzying scramble for power where the stakes include the next crucial steps of humanity itself and, perhaps, his very soul. Human+ explores the timeless duality of mind and matter in an era when cutting-edge science has come to echo ancient mysticism, and when emerging technology promises for the first time in history to put humans in charge of their own evolution -- for better or worse.

Notă biografică

Martin Higgins is a writer, editor and podcaster from Liverpool, England. In 2000 he dropped out from a lowly PR job in London to test his utopian idealism against the practicalities of real communal living, spending a year helping establish an intentional community in Andalusia, Spain. Wandering followed, including stints in Germany, India, Australia and New Zealand. He wrote Human+, his first novel, in 2012. Human+ is based on his own feature-length screenplay, with a story inspired by his own experiences of "non-ordinary" states of consciousness. In the following year he began his podcast The Eternities which addresses similar themes of consciousness and human development. The podcast has featured interviews with writers and thinkers on such topics as psi phenomena, psychedelics, radical nutrition, alternative education, sexual health and transhumanism.
