Jack Amun Vincent claims to have lost his memory. He walks the same path through the east side of Detroit everyday, from sunrise to sunset. Judge Runciman has to rule whether Jack Vincent is sane. A seemingly ordinary civil commitment case sets in motion an extraordinary series of disturbing events. Before the case concludes, the judge will have to examine not just Vincent's conduct, but also his own.
